We moved back to the US on Sunday, July 22, 2012. We flew into Chicago, rented a car, and headed to Arlington Heights to stay in a hotel for a couple of days. We had stored out cars in a "Public Storage" unit and so on Monday morning we drove to the storage units. We knew that our cars would most likely be dead from no use for six months and we were right. We had to push them out of the storage units and use our rental car to jump them. We then took them to get their oil changed and checked out at Midas. We hit all of our favorite spots in Arlington Heights. The next morning, we got up early and drove through Chicago and headed to our new home in Michigan. We got on Tuesday evening and headed straight to our new home in Michigan. It is not far from where we used to live before. Its a two bedroom apartment but this time it has a garage which we are excited about since it gets really cold in Michigan and we hate having to scrape our windshields. On Wednesday, July 24 Tom started his permanent position at Bosch in the Car Multimedia department. It is the same division that he was working for in Germany. While Tom was at work, I met up with Laura and her kids. Ainsley and Sam had missed their best buddies while we were in Germany. It only took a few seconds for them to warm up and start playing together. The next few days were busy with unpacking. Ainsley had been looking forward to seeing all her old toys. She could not wait to find her Cami-baby. It took a few weeks to do all the shopping needed because we had to replace every food item and cleaning product needed as we had to get rid of everything before we moved to Germany.
Once we got a little settled, we went to see our Michigan cousins Scott and Tricia Winder. Ainsley was so excited to see Sydney and Owen again. We are so excited to be living near them again. We went blueberry picking, to the lake, and hanging out at their house.
We live right behind the tennis courts, so everyday Ainsley would ask to go play on them. So we bought her a little tennis racquet and Tom took her out and tried to give her a few tennis lessons.
Every August, Detroit holds the Woodward Dream Cruise. It is the largest exposition car show in the country. People from all of the country bring their vintage cars to come "cruise" the boulevard as a throw back to the old days. Locals come and sit along the route and watch like it is a parade. It goes on for days. We went two years ago when we first moved to Michigan and were excited to get back.
Our good friend the Trappuzzanos invited us to the Detroit Zoo for the GS Bosch night. They had rented out the zoo for their work party and so we had the place to ourselves. Sam loved seeing all the animals. Right as we were leaving, we took the kids on the Merry-go-round, For years, we have been trying to get Ainsley to ride the carousel horses by herself. She has always been too afraid. This time she agreed but as you can see from the following pictures that she was absolutely terrified. But afterwards, she said she loved it. Hopefully we can get her to go on it again.

What fun pictures! The boots are adorable. And I love the completely grumpy look on Ella's face. :-) Hooray for being back in the blogging world!
