Shedd Aquarium

I'm slow to post this so I apologize to our mutual Indiana friends who read the Carlston blog...but here are my pictures from the Shedd Aquarium.
Laura and I took the kids to the Shedd Aquarium for their free Illinois Resident Day. We caught the train into the city with all of the business commuters. It was busy on the train so we had to split up. I sat with the strollers while Laura sat in the front with the kids. When we got into the city, we decided to walk all the way to the Museum Complex...which is a little over a mile and a half away. But we figured it would be easier than folding up our strollers and boarding a bus. We got a great workout. It was cold, but we kept warm. Laura is a champ and pushed three kids in her sit/stand stroller. At the aquarium, we were able to view all of the first floor exhibits. The girls loved pushing all of the buttons and looking at the touch computers more than the fish. But we had a great time. We ate lunch at the aquarium lunchroom then walked next door to the Natural History Museum. We looked at the animal and dinosaur exhibits. The museum is known for its T-rex Sue which is one of the most complete T-rex skeletons in the world. It was a fun day. When we were done at the museum, we rushed back to the train station. Unfortunately we were one of the last people on the train so it was impossible to find seats. Some people were rude and wouldn't let us sit in the "quiet car" since we had kids even though it was the only open seats. So we ended up having to stand in the entry the entire 30 minute commute with four kids and two strollers. It was a little annoying:( But overall it was a great day! Laura and I both have children museum passes which get us free into several more museums in the city so we are going to try it again...maybe we'll drive though:).
