Erwin's Apple Orchard

For Ainsley's first preschool fieldtrip, we went to Erwin's Apple Orchard and Pumpkin patch  in South Lyon.  Michigan is known for its apples, but sadly this year there was an early frost that completely destroyed the entire state's crop of apples.  Almost every orchard declared a total loss in their crop but that didn't stop us from still going to visit.  The orchards are known for their amazing apple cider and donuts.  And even though they had to use apples shipped from another state, the cider was still delicious!  We met Ainsley's preschool class at the orchard.  We got to go on a tractor ride out to the pumpkin patches.  Each kid got to pick out their own pumpkin.  Ainsley had fun picking out one for her and one for Sam.  She probably picked up at least 10 pumpkins before she found the perfect one.  We then rode the tractor around the farm.  Then we got to go through a corn maze.  It had a little scavenger hunt in the maze for the kids to do.  We got a little lost in the maze for awhile, but that's what happens when you let a bunch of four year olds guide us through.  They had a blast though, and we eventually made it out after doing the same circle over and over.   After the corn maze, we went to the cider mill to have some apple cider and some amazing pumpkin spice and apple cinnamon sugar donuts.  They were amazing.  I bought an extra dozen to take home.  Then there was a fun area for the kids to play.   They had giant haybales for the kids to jump on, a tractor bike race course, and baby goats that they could feed.  Ainsley had so much fun playing with her little friends from school.  She didn't want to leave.
